Drove out to the Cleveland National Forest and did the San Juan Loop Trail. It was super short only took about an hour. There are some waterfalls and a river that runs by a lot of the trail so I think I will have to come back when there has been some rain.

Weekendness: Long Beach Antique Flea Market this morning (success with a new ring and little box), had some awesome vegan food at a place called Zeyphr, finished reading I am Not Sidney Poitier and bought a boatload of books by Edward Abby and Jon Krakauer. I did a little painting as well.

Found some of my drawings last night from college. Life drawing kinda kicked my butt, not gonna lie. Still life drawing is more my thing (it's easier haha). I will take another life drawing class in my life. I strongly believe that designers should be able to do other mediums of art. The more you do the better I think. I believe it helps in problem solving and creativity. I will say there was a vast improvement in my life drawing skills by the midterm. But there needs to be a lot more.

Generally speaking I think new year's resolutions are kinda silly. Why wait to change or do something until the new year? If you want to do something do it now. Went for a little walk on a trail by my house on Christmas Eve. Surprisingly for all the hiking I do I have never trekked up this hill. I think I will be doing it a lot more often. The weather in Southern California has been lovely. The sun is shinning and the there is a crisp breeze. I even saw two old men driving around without shirts on today. A beach city life for sure.

Made a little trip to the Pasadena Swap Meet at the Rose Bowl this morning. It's about an hour and 45 minutes away but totally worth it. I got some nifty stuff (plants, old beakers for a project, rings and a top secret gift for my sister) and I can't wait to go back again.

I feel like my blog isn't really going in any direction right now. I just post pages from my sketchbook and I would like to make the blog a bit more dynamic. Or maybe take it in another direction. Since I work in the clothing industry and spend a lot of time looking at fashion websites and blogs I figured this was appropriate. Next time I think I will stick with a plain background. If there is a next time. Consider this a test. If there are more I would appreciate feedback on whether or not you dig.

Weekend:
Went to Vegas to see The Beatles LOVE, Cirque du Soleil show. Edge of your seat jaw dropping performance. Go see it if you are blessed with the opportunity. Fortunately for me my mother wanted to go for her birthday.

We took a little detour to the Hoover Dam and saw the new bridge.

My mom is cooler than me and took these photos on her itouch. I took all my pictures on a disposable camera so I have to wait. Maybe I will have to upgrade to that iphone...

So I finally got a painting space setup in my house. Blocked off a corner of my room that gets nice light (during the day). I am hoping to get more painting done. I sit on the computer all day designing so I need some get your hands dirty balance. My new painting is some mountains in Washington. I made some serious progress tonight after work.

I actually fainted last night for the first time in my life. Out of all the terrible places to do that I did it at a concert. Thank goodness for friends or I would have hit that floor with my head quite quickly.
Lesson: Now I know I am anemic so I am adding B12 vitamins into my life. This explains lots of mystery that has been added to my life in the last 5 months.

My first roll of film from my weekend camping trip in the Sequoias. I soaked the film in a magical potion in order to get the colors and spots. Nothing has been altered in photoshop. I will be uploading my digital shots later this week and I have some partial rolls in my other cameras that I will still need to finish. That could be a couple months from now though. We'll see. Until then enjoy.

The first sketchbook page is kinda perfect for this post because I bought a brown hat and a denim jacket today. Looked for some cool brown cowboy boots but I didn't have any luck. Maybe next time.

I think I watch TV shows in waves. Tidal waves to be exact. I watch season after season. Then that's it. I am done with the how whether or not it's on the air. Currently I am watching Mad Men before it was South Park. Other past favs: Weeds and Arrested Development

I am starting to see summer slip away oh so sad. I feel like I didn't go to the beach enough. I kinda replaced beach trips with hikes so I call that a fair swap. Either way nature wins.

I feel like I have been kinda lagging on my blogging recently. I think it's because I have been staying away from the computer after work. But I had to do a boatload of scanning so I thought I would upload some of the good shots on here. It is finally summer in Southern California. Super hot weather, amazing friends, long beach days on the weekend, early morning weekend hikes, farmers market. Come on... could it get any better. Today I am making some sun tea, gathering my camera and book and meeting some friends at the beach.
